A Drone Looking Down at an Outdoor Artificial Grass Tennis Court

How Much Does Artificial Grass Tennis Court Cost

A tennis court construction is a fun and exciting process. You will enjoy the process and see how your court gets ready before your eyes! In addition to immediate benefits, you can also rejoice over the fact that a tennis court will enhance the value of your property in the long term. However, there are plenty of things you need to consider before the construction itself can start. Perhaps the most important factor is the tennis court cost.

But how much does it cost to build a tennis court? The price varies mainly due to the type of tennis court surface. But don’t worry, we have good news for you! Namely, tennis court construction with artificial grass is one of the easiest and low-cost ways to establish a tennis court. Compared to other surfaces, artificial grass is the most reasonable option.

The Cost of Different Parts of Tennis Court Construction

The very first thing you need to think about is the location of the court. All the subsequent prices are based on the assumption that you already own the plot. If you don’t, all these steps of tennis court construction are preceded by the process of buying the land and obtaining a building permit from the municipality government. This probably raises the overall tennis court cost.

1. Tennis Court Sub-Base Construction

The biggest part of the tennis court cost is the sub-base. Tennis court sub-base construction requires a specific and good-quality installation process. The quality sub-base guarantees the smooth installation of artificial grass and the latter excellent playing experience. It’s a paramount part of the overall artificial grass tennis court establishment.

For that reason, the cost of construction of a tennis court sub-base is also the most expensive part of the entire process. The price is about 25 000 – 29 000€

2. Tennis Court Fencing Installation

A tennis court fencing is necessary equipment as it mainly prevents balls from being hit out of the court during the game. Different options can be applied for building a fence around the court depending on the owner’s preferences and the budget. One of the most aesthetic and durable variants comprises a fence made of panels.

The cost of tennis court fencing is in the range of 9000 – 11 000€.

3. Artificial Grass Installation

The second largest part of tennis court cost, after sub-base construction, is artificial grass installation. Installing artificial grass consists of two steps. First, the artificial grass installation itself takes place. This means rolling out the artificial grass rolls in the right order and gluing the grass and lines. Second, it’s time for infill sand installation. Both infill sand and artificial turf must be dry for the installation to guarantee the best final result.

The price of artificial grass and infill sand is between 16 000 – 19 000€. This also includes installation.

4. Lighting Installation

If you want to make the most out of your tennis court and extend the playing hours, it is recommended to install special lighting for the court. The minimum intensity of tennis court lights is 150 lux, but the number of light masts depends on the intensity. Generally, either 6 lower or 4 higher masts are installed.

The installation of tennis court lighting costs 10 000 – 12 000€.

5. The Installation of Practice Wall And Other Additional Elements

The additional elements enhance the functionality of the tennis court facility. One of the most important elements is a special tennis practice wall. A practice wall can be beneficial to your tennis in numerous ways. As Jimmy Connors has said: “My favorite opponent is the practice wall – he never misses.’’ It is possible to use a practice wall for every shot – forehand and backhand, slices, approach shots, volleys, and even serve.

The cost of the practice wall is 8000€, to which is added the installation cost.

The Cost of Artificial Grass Tennis Court Maintenance

The requirements for artificial grass tennis courts are not very strict. Artificial grass is a hard-wearing surface and has high weather-resistance. However, the court needs regular maintenance to keep its quality and good playing properties over time.

It is recommended to more thorough maintenance once a year before the season starts, in spring. During this, you need to brush the court thoroughly to remove debris, trash, and moss. Also, you have to replace the sand that has been lost during brushing with the new one.

The general cost of artificial grass tennis court maintenance for a year is approximately 1500€

Choosing Artificial Grass Is a Wise Decision

As previously said, an artificial grass tennis court construction is financially the most reasonable. Since the general maintenance is also quite low-cost compared to other tennis court surfaces, the tennis court cost is undoubtedly worth it in the long run. Don’t forget – you will get an opportunity to play whenever you want.
